Mulehouse Road, Crookes
I lived here for two years with some crazy girls. There is a bowling green opposite which is typically full of flat cap wearing stereotypes. geotagged
This place is not a place of honor… no highly esteemed deed is commemorated here.

At the top of Mulehouse Road, Sheffield just stops abruptly. There is this park (where we played a lot of low skill cricket) and there is Crookes Cemetary, but then there is nothing. This is also the field where Sean Bean plays a bit of football in 'When Saturday Comes' They did the filming while I was living just down the road. I don't know if the scene made it into the final film, but I do know that Sean Bean runs like a girl.
I had the attic room at 124 Howard Road. Just another typical student terrace. geotagged
I don't know why but I never liked Walkley. I think it's just one long soulless road. But just when you're leaving it throws up this rather nice library. geotagged
The first house I bought. Number 43 (whitewashed). When I owned it, it did not have the curious second front door on the entrance to the gennal. The guttering needed replacing when I owned it, and still does now. geotagged
At the time of the Hillsborough disaster, I had left Liverpool but not yet arrived in Sheffield. At the time of the 10 year anniversary though, I was living on Leppings Lane, just a few hundred yards from the stadium. A lot of Liverpool fans came and paid their respects that day. It was very moving. And remember kids, we never, ever, buy The Sun. geotagged
When I first moved into Leppings Lane, Wednesday were in the premiership. Attendances were high, but the police presence was too and they cordened off the surrounding streets for residents. Then Wednesday got relegated (twice!) and the Police lost interest in shepherding the poor lost souls from the lower leagues and I could never get near my house again on match day. I haven't forgiven them for that and wish them nothing but continuing misery and misfortune. My dream scenario for this season is promotion for Sheffield United and Rotherham and another relegation for Wednesday. geotagged
Saturn 5, you really were the greatest sight Stretching out on a summer's day Houston it's calling me back to her. An Eagle lands, and a planet full of people raises its hands All hail the men who will walk up in heaven today.
