Grabbr

Thursday, June 09, 2005

Screen ShotGrabbr is a small application to smooth the task of uploading screenshots to Flickr.

It lives in the inconspicuously in the system tray until such time as you need it. At which point you hit CTRL+F12 and it springs into life, capturing the currently focused window.

You then have the option to, crop, title describe and tag the image before uploading it directly to your account.

It could barely be simpler.

New in 1.3 - Permissions support and the option to go to photo pages after upload

Grabbr is designed to be fast and use as few system resources as possible when not in use (it's not some bloated .NET application).

Does this work with yahoo logins?

Version 1.1 does not work for Yahoo logins.

A version that does is currently in testing.

when is a mac version coming out?

My Mac is too feeble to do any development on.

It's split into two bits though, the Windows specific UI and a (hopefully) cross platform library for talking to Flickr so maybe someone else could do it.

Can someone give another link for download? Sourceforge.net has just been blocked in China. :(

2 things would make this perfect for me:

1) a mac version

2) integration with del.icio.us - I would love to find a site, add it to del.icio.us and somehow connect it to a screenshot in flickr...

"..it's not some bloated .NET application..."

Congratulations....you demonstrate that you don't know how to write unbloated software using modern tools...well done...

haha..I notice several deleted comments...perhaps the ones detailing one of the several bugs that crash it? hey maybe .NET isn't so bad if it manages memory for programmers who can't manage their own...

The deleted comments are spam.

If I got an actual bug report detailing steps to create a crash I'd fix it.

Cheers

Gareth

I've been using this for several years now with no problems. In fact, I don't think it's ever crashed on me.

Love this product and have been using it for awhile! It does work in Vista and I have yet to see it crash.

Any chance you can give user selectable transparency/color for the obscure tool? I liked the older version that was blurred instead of solid black.

Great tool, really. I was wondering, is it also possible to attach the screendumps to a set?

Grabbr will no longer open the Flickr web page to show the upload. Instead it opens the Grabbr directory and lists the files in there, including the PNG file it created. The file HAS uploaded to Flickr, but Grabbr appears unable to now launch Firefox properly.

As I haven't changed anything, I'm at a loss as to why Grabbr now does not work as it once used to!
